Egypt based Sinai.ai raises $1.45 million pre seed round led by KAUST Innovation Ventures and DisrupTech to transform books into AI powered interactive experiences.

Egypt based Sinai.ai has raised $1.45 million in a pre seed funding round as it builds an AI native platform designed to transform how books are consumed, moving beyond static formats into interactive and adaptive experiences. The round was led by KAUST Innovation Ventures and DisrupTech Ventures, with participation from Maza Ventures, YOUXEL Ventures and a group of angel investors.

Founded in 2024 by Ahmed Kamel, Mohamed Elshamy, Mohamed Elshenawy, Hana Malhas and Abdullah Moatasem, the Cairo rooted startup is developing what it describes as an “aiBook” format, a system that converts traditional books into multimodal experiences combining text, audio, translation and real time interaction. The platform allows users to engage with content dynamically, including generating summaries, interacting with narratives and adapting reading formats based on individual preferences and learning goals.

The company’s approach is built around licensed content partnerships, positioning itself within the existing publishing ecosystem rather than outside it. According to the company, its system operates on fully licensed full text material sourced directly from publishers and rights holders, enabling compliance while opening new monetization channels for content owners.

Globally, the book market is estimated to exceed $150 billion, yet the format of books has remained largely unchanged despite the rise of digital distribution. This gap has driven a wave of experimentation around AI driven content experiences, particularly in education and knowledge platforms. Companies building adjacent layers, including adaptive learning platforms and AI content tools, have attracted increasing investor attention as part of a broader shift toward personalized media consumption.

Sinai.ai’s model introduces an additional layer focused specifically on full length content, where interaction, personalization and multimodal access are integrated into a single interface. The company says readers can switch between reading and listening, access multilingual formats and generate study materials in real time, reflecting a move toward more flexible consumption patterns across digital media.

The new funding will be used to expand Sinai.ai’s proprietary technology, scale its AI infrastructure, acquire users and secure additional licensing agreements with publishers. The company is also building out its content library, launching with thousands of titles and partnerships with multiple publishing houses as it expands its footprint.

The round comes as early stage AI startups across the Middle East and North Africa continue to attract capital despite broader funding slowdowns, particularly in segments tied to infrastructure, education and content transformation. Sinai.ai’s positioning within licensed publishing and AI driven interaction places it within a category that is increasingly being explored as digital media shifts toward more immersive and adaptive formats.
