About Sinai.ai
Sinai.ai is an Egypt-based startup that turns books into interactive, AI-supported reading experiences. Its website presents an AI reading companion that lets users read, listen to and talk with books, and lists eBooks, audio books, living books and original books as formats. TechScoop and StartupList Africa place the company in Cairo.
Wamda and TechScoop report that Sinai.ai was founded in 2024 by Ahmed Kamel, Mohamed Elshamy, Mohamed Elshenawy, Hana Malhas and Abdullah Moatasem. Kamel is co-founder and chief executive. StartupList Africa lists Elshenawy as co-founder and chief technology officer, and dates Kamel's role to May 2024 and Elshenawy's to April 2024. The company's terms of use name Sinai.ai Inc. as the operating entity and give a Wilmington, Delaware address.
The main product is aiBook, which Wamda describes as a trademarked, patent-backed book format. Readers can hold real-time conversations with a book, generate summaries, study guides, quizzes and exams, switch between reading and listening, and use translated and narrated versions. The site also lists a reading companion for notes, highlights and book timelines, visualised stories and activity books. It shows iOS and Android apps as coming soon.
Sinai.ai says its platform works only with fully licensed, full-text content obtained from publishers and rights holders, which it says avoids the copyright problems of general AI tools. Wamda reports partnerships with a double-digit number of publishers and a launch library of thousands of titles; no publisher is named. The website says user data is not sold to advertisers and private conversations are not used to train public AI models.
On 21 April 2026 the company announced a closed pre-seed round of 1.45 million dollars led by KAUST Innovation Ventures and DisrupTech Ventures, with Maza Ventures, YOUXEL Ventures and angel investors taking part. Sinai.ai said the money would go to proprietary technology, AI infrastructure, user acquisition and content licensing. Its announcement cites a global book market of more than 150 billion dollars.
