Saudi retailtech startup Raff has raised 1.7 million dollars in a pre-seed round led by Vision Ventures. It runs against the usual e-commerce story, helping online brands break into physical retail by digitising distribution, inventory and fulfilment.

Raff pre-seed funding of 1.7 million dollars backs a startup solving a problem that runs against the usual direction of e-commerce, helping online brands break into physical retail rather than the other way around. Raff, a Saudi Arabia-based retailtech platform, raised the round led by Vision Ventures, with participation from 500 Global, Palm VC, Oqal Group and Salla co-founder Salman Butt, among others. Founded in 2024, Raff connects consumer brands directly with retailers, digitising the messy commercial machinery of distribution, inventory management, order fulfilment and payments, and its counterintuitive focus on the offline expansion of digital-native brands is what makes it interesting. The problem Raff attacks is one that has quietly grown as e-commerce has matured. Digital platforms and marketplaces have made launching and scaling an online brand across the Gulf easier than ever, but expanding into physical stores remains fragmented, time-consuming and expensive, requiring separate onboarding, logistics and commercial relationships with every single retailer a brand wants to sell through. As CEO Ali Al Qudah put it, the online barriers have fallen, but reaching customers offline still means clearing multiple operational and commercial hurdles. Raff collapses that complexity into a single end-to-end platform. For brands, it digitises distribution and commercial operations so they can expand their physical presence without building it all from scratch. For retailers, it automates key workflows, simplifies managing a growing vendor network, and integrates with leading regional point-of-sale and accounting software, freeing them to focus on growth rather than administration. The traction and pedigree behind the raise give it credibility beyond the cheque size. Raff has already enabled more than 900 brands across nine countries to grow through physical retail, meaningful validation for a company just two years old. Its founders bring relevant depth, with Al Qudah having built and scaled two e-commerce brands before joining the Saudi e-commerce giant Salla as an early employee, experience that clearly informs Raff's understanding of the online-to-offline journey. That Salla connection runs through the investor base too, with Salla co-founder Salman Butt participating and lead investor Vision Ventures having previously backed Salla itself. Vision Ventures framed the logic neatly, noting it had earlier supported the shift from offline to online through Salla, and now sees the reverse move, brands going from online into physical stores, as the next efficiency layer for regional commerce. The fresh capital will fund expansion across the GCC, accelerate product development and strengthen Raff's AI capabilities. The regional and strategic significance is considerable, because the opportunity is large and the timing deliberate. The GCC retail market is valued at more than 300 billion dollars annually, giving Raff a vast addressable market as brands increasingly look to reach customers beyond digital channels. That its 1.7 million dollar round sits in the upper tier of pre-seed deals signals real investor appetite for retail infrastructure in the Gulf, exactly the kind of B2B commerce technology and AI-enabled platform that features prominently at LEAP 2026, the Kingdom's flagship technology conference running in Riyadh from 31 August to 3 September, where hundreds of startups pitch to the nearly 1,900 investors the event draws. Raff sits squarely within the retailtech and digital-commerce themes the conference showcases, and its rise reflects the maturing Saudi startup ecosystem that LEAP has helped put on the global map. The honest caveats are modest. At 1.7 million dollars this is early-stage capital, retail infrastructure is operationally demanding to scale across multiple markets, and Raff will face competition as the space attracts attention. But the Raff pre-seed funding backs a genuinely useful platform addressing a real and underserved gap, and its bet that the next frontier of Gulf commerce lies in helping online brands conquer physical shelves positions it well in a large and growing market.
