About Nordic Makers

Nordic Makers is an angel-led, early-stage investor in the Nordic region. Its website says it is made up of entrepreneurs investing their own money rather than venture capitalists. It writes initial cheques of 500,000 to 1 million euros into Nordic business-to-business software companies at pre-seed or seed stage and follows on in later rounds. It lists medtech, biotech, crypto, virtual reality and augmented reality among areas it avoids. A directory profile names enterprise software, AI and machine learning, energy transition and renewables, and proptech as its sectors.

Oresund Startups reported the launch of Nordic Makers in October 2016 as an initiative offering expertise and funding to early-stage technology start-ups, and said it was not simply a fund. It named ten people, among them Alexander Aghassipour, Klaus Nyengaard, Lars Fløe Nielsen and Martin von Haller Grønbæk. An undated interview published by the Helio coworking space described a collective of nine angel investors across Sweden and Denmark who invest through a mutual corporation and take investment decisions jointly. Directory listings give 2016 as the founding year and Copenhagen as the base; the Nordic Hardtech directory adds Stockholm.

The current website names Nima Tisdall as chief executive; he previously co-founded the seafood marketplace Blue Lobster. Other listed members are Michael Seifert and Lars Fløe Nielsen, described as co-founders of Sitecore; Alexander Aghassipour, co-founder of Zendesk; Martin von Haller Grønbæk, a partner at Bird & Bird; Klaus Nyengaard, former chief executive of Just Eat; and Moaffak Ahmed, a board member of Slush and Nosto.

Nordic Hardtech lists five hardtech companies in its portfolio: Minut, Seaborg Technologies, NextMind, Atech and Donkey Republic, without dates or amounts. In May 2026 TechScoop reported an 800,000 dollar pre-seed round for Atech, a hardware development start-up backed by Lovable, in which the scout funds of a16z and Sequoia and Nordic Makers also took part.

The pages read state no fund size and no outside capital, and the firm describes its money as that of its partners.
