Saudi startup Gaia has raised 1.5 million dollars in a Seedra-led pre-seed to build national AI tools that search, answer and act on enterprise files and systems while keeping data inside the organisation.

A national AI pitch is what Saudi startup Gaia is selling, and it has 1.5 million dollars in pre-seed capital to test whether enterprises will buy it. Seedra Ventures led the round, disclosed on 8 September 2026. The company was founded this year in Saudi Arabia by Badr Al-Malluh, chief executive, and Mohammad Rababah, chief product and technology officer. It is building a platform that ties together files, email, customer systems and internal workflows, then answers questions and runs tasks on that material without sending the underlying data outside the organisation. The product is three layers stacked on the same store of company knowledge. Search is meant to return cited answers with the source file or thread attached. A generative assistant is meant to reply only from that internal base. Agents are meant to draft reports, move work across connected systems and stop for a person when the step is sensitive. Permissions are supposed to follow the employee, so a search does not become a back door into records they could not already open. That design is not a new category. Enterprise search and internal copilots are crowded globally. Gaia’s claim is residency: data stays inside the company environment, which is the buying condition for banks, ministries and large corporates that will not put mail and contracts into a public model. The press note cites familiar industry figures on time lost hunting for files and on security as the main brake on adoption. What it does not cite is named customers, live deployments or revenue. The money is small and early, which is the honest frame. A 1.5 million dollar pre-seed for a 2026 founding vintage is a product-build cheque, not a scale-up. Seedra, the Riyadh firm that also led Rime’s physical AI seed in August, is again backing software that sits on top of infrastructure the state is already pouring billions into. That is the regional point worth making. National AI in Saudi Arabia is usually told as chips, power and HUMAIN campuses. The unglamorous half is whether a Riyadh operator can query its own systems in Arabic and English without leaking them. Gaia is a bet on that half. The risk is the same as every sovereign wrapper in the Gulf. If the connectors are thin, the answers will be thin. If human approval is theatre, agents will either stall or overreach. And 1.5 million dollars will not last long once enterprise security reviews begin. The raise funds more product work and conversations with Saudi firms. Proof will be a named deployment, not another sentence about data never leaving the building.
