Replit acquired Atta on 25 September and put interactive charts in its chat. Founders Omar Shaik and Amine Ben Khalifa joined. The price was not disclosed. Replit called Atta San Francisco-based. Regional notes call it Egypt-founded.

Atta is the analytics startup Replit bought so a coding agent can draw the chart as well as the app. On 25 September 2026 Replit said it had acquired the company and shipped the first piece the same day: interactive charts inside Replit chat. A user uploads a dataset or connects a source, asks a question in plain language, and the agent runs the queries, picks a chart and renders it. Waterfall for a revenue change, heatmap for retention, if the prompt fits. No SQL in the path Replit described. Co-founders Omar Shaik and Amine Ben Khalifa joined. The price was not disclosed. That is the punch. Replit’s own post called Atta San Francisco-based. Regional coverage calls it Egypt-founded. Both can be true: founders from Egypt, company sitting in the Bay Area at close. The note does not say a Cairo office transferred, or that Egyptian customers came with the code. What transferred is a charting system and two founders. Labels, spacing and layout are meant to adapt when a chart is resized, so the picture can go into a review without a design pass. That is a product claim. It is not a benchmark against Tableau or a local BI vendor. The longer aim in the post is that an investigation becomes a routine, the routine becomes slides, and the slides shape the next tool a team builds inside Replit. Analysis stops being a separate destination. That only holds if the agent’s query is right. A chart that looks finished and is wrong is worse than a spreadsheet a analyst still has to open. Replit did not publish an error rate, a list of connected warehouses, or who is allowed to point the agent at live revenue data. For a coding platform the logic is distribution. Business users already ask the agent to build an internal tool. Asking it to explain last month’s cohort in the same thread removes a handoff. Atta had been built around KPI changes, revenue scenarios, pricing and retention. Folding that into the agent is how Replit steps out of “build the app” and into “read the business.” It is also how a small analytics team gets a cap-table event without a Series B story. The MENA angle is an acquihire of an Egypt-linked product into a US agent, not a regional launch. Egyptian data teams still buy dashboards. This deal does not put Replit on a Cairo price list. It does say a charting engine with Egyptian founders cleared a US buyer’s bar, and that the buyer shipped it into chat within the announcement window. If Shaik and Ben Khalifa stay and the chart path holds up on messy Arabic-language merchant files, the origin matters. If they are a feature team for a quarter, Atta was a library purchase. Caveats: consideration unpublished. Headquarters in Replit’s post is San Francisco, not Cairo. “Purpose-built” and “on-brand” are vendor language. Natural-language analysis can invent a join. No customer list and no headcount sat in the 25 September note. The blog was updated on 4 October without new terms. If Replit publishes connected sources and a correction rate after this Atta close, the chart feature left the demo. If the next note is only the founders’ titles, count charts a finance lead will sign. Watch the query, not the resize.
