Dubai-based Cobi has raised 1 million dollars in pre-seed funding led by Lunara Partners. The cheque is modest, but the AI customer-intelligence startup already counts Mastercard, Emirates Flight Catering and G42's Presight among its clients.

Cobi pre-seed funding has reached 1 million dollars, and while that is a modest cheque, the enterprise clients already on the startup's books make it more interesting than the number suggests. Cobi, a Dubai-based AI customer-intelligence startup operating out of the Dubai AI Campus, raised the round led by Lunara Partners, with participation from Plug and Play, Annex Investments and Spring. The company is building what it calls an AI decision stack for customer intelligence, and the fact that a company barely a year old is already working with names like Mastercard and Emirates Flight Catering is the real signal here, because landing blue-chip enterprise customers at the pre-seed stage is unusual and hard. The problem Cobi solves is a genuinely common enterprise frustration. Companies today have more customer data and more software than ever, but that data sits fragmented across separate systems, with product behaviour, transactions, campaign performance and feedback each living in a different tool and each showing only one slice of the customer story. Different tools return conflicting signals, teams reconcile them manually, and by the time they reach a decision the moment to act has often passed. Cobi's platform attacks exactly that gap. It reads behavioural, transactional, product and engagement data in real time, identifies what is meaningfully changing about a customer, whether that is growth, disengagement or a shift in preference, explains what may be driving it, recommends a next action, and delivers that decision through the tools the business already uses. As Lunara's co-founder put it, enterprises have invested heavily in systems that collect customer data and systems that execute interactions, but the decisions connecting the two remain fragmented and manual, and Cobi is building the intelligence layer in between. The strength behind the raise is a combination of pedigree and traction. Founded in 2024 by Darren Edmund and Botlhale Mosoane, Cobi is led by a team with serious blue-chip experience, with Edmund having spent a decade in data-driven digital transformation including advising European financial institutions at Deloitte, and Mosoane bringing a decade of building and scaling technology. That background helps explain the customer roster, which beyond Mastercard and Emirates Flight Catering includes Presight AI, a G42 company, and Lari Exchange, alongside a five-year agreement with eNovate, a subsidiary of Egypt's eFinance Investment Group, to integrate Cobi's intelligence across a digital payment ecosystem. Real enterprise deployments and a multi-year contract are exactly the kind of validation that de-risks an early-stage bet. The fresh capital will accelerate those enterprise deployments across the Middle East and internationally, deepen Cobi's recommendation and decisioning capabilities, and automate more of the workflow between raw customer signals and executed decisions. The regional and strategic significance places Cobi within Dubai's fast-growing AI startup scene. Its base at the Dubai AI Campus and its DIFC registration reflect the emirate's deliberate positioning as a hub for AI companies, and it lands alongside a cluster of other AI bets in the city this year. Cobi also sits within the broader shift in enterprise AI, away from general-purpose models and toward specialised tools that apply intelligence to a specific, high-value business problem, in this case customer decision-making. The involvement of Lunara Partners, a MENA-focused firm making early investments, and Spring, a venture studio, signals regional investor conviction that this decision-layer niche is worth backing. The honest caveats are clear. At 1 million dollars, this sits in the lower quarter of pre-seed deals by size, a modest cheque for an early team, and customer-intelligence is a crowded space where global players and incumbents are chasing the same enterprises. But the Cobi pre-seed funding is a promising, well-validated start, pairing an experienced team and genuine blue-chip traction with a clear enterprise problem, and its early customer wins give it a stronger foundation than the round size alone would imply.
