OpenTraining joins Meta Wearables Studio UAE, a national program for AI-powered wearable applications delivered by Startupbootcamp with Meta and the UAE Cyber Security Council. The UAE startup announced its selection in late October 2026. The program was unveiled at GISEC Global 2026 and supports the UAE National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031. OpenTraining is a training-data platform for physical AI, owned and operated by Open Technology LLC. Founder and CEO George Bancs said the company uses Meta smart glasses, including Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta models, to record how skilled industrial work is performed. The goal is to generate training data so humanoid robots can eventually take on the most dangerous tasks. The platform runs face detection and pixelation on the device in real time. Only the redacted image is written to storage; identifiable frames are never stored, transmitted or reviewed by a person. License plates and documents pass through the same pipeline. Bancs described privacy by design as the condition that allows the technology onto a worksite. The company has authored hazard profiles across sixteen industry verticals, beginning with building and infrastructure. Workers can participate in a Training Economy program by submitting demonstrations during shifts and receiving payment for approved contributions. OpenTraining is also a member of NVIDIA Inception, NVIDIA’s program for AI startups. The company has not published the volume of video already collected or the number of worksites currently active. Meta Wearables Studio UAE gives UAE-based developers, entrepreneurs and startups access to Meta’s wearable technology and engineering expertise. Startupbootcamp leads delivery on the ground, covering participant outreach, selection, workshops, mentorship and the final showcase. The structure includes public ideation sessions, expert-led workshops, technical mentoring and an in-person build sprint, followed by a pitchathon and showcase at GITEX Global 2026. The top three teams share a $10,000 prize pool. Focus areas listed by the organizers include tourism and cultural heritage, healthcare, education, Arabic AI companions and smart retail. Program kick-off was scheduled around early November 2026, with the main showcase events later in the year. For OpenTraining the practical change is access to Meta hardware and engineering support for its industrial recording use case. The value of participation depends on whether the company can expand the volume of privacy-compliant training data and demonstrate measurable progress toward robot training datasets. The announcement does not publish the number of hours of video already collected, the number of workers enrolled in the Training Economy, or any commercial terms with Meta or Startupbootcamp. No funding amount or equity terms were disclosed because the selection is program participation rather than an investment round. Other regional programs have paired Meta with Startupbootcamp on language-model and agentic AI initiatives. Wearables Studio UAE is positioned as the first dedicated UAE program for AI-powered wearable experiences, with the UAE Cyber Security Council anchoring security and privacy requirements. The program does not list industrial or robotics applications among its published focus areas; OpenTraining is applying the hardware to a worksite data-collection task. The combination places a physical-AI data company inside a consumer-wearables program that emphasizes privacy from the start. If the next update from OpenTraining or the program organizers lists a showcase date, data-volume figures or a completed hazard profile set, the selection has a measurable follow-through. If the next statement only restates membership, the change for the market remains the same as the initial announcement. The figures missing from the current disclosure are the size of the training dataset, the number of participating worksites and any timeline for robot deployment. The selection is one step in a UAE program that pairs local startups with Meta wearable platforms under a national AI strategy.
