Shorooq and Presight joined Maven Robotics’ $100 million Series A through joint AI and Bedaya funds. The UAE ticket size was not disclosed. Proceeds fund 250 third-generation warehouse robots. Reliability and hours cited are company-reported.
Series A capital is what Maven Robotics is using to turn a small warehouse fleet into a production line. The Santa Clara company closed 100 million dollars around 10 September 2026, with RoboStrategy leading and LocalGlobe, Vine Ventures and XTX Ventures in the book. On 28 September Abu Dhabi’s Shorooq and ADX-listed Presight said they had joined through the Presight-Shorooq AI fund and Shorooq’s Bedaya fund. Their cheque size was not disclosed. PitchBook later listed about 118 million dollars raised to date, implying earlier money around 18 million. Valuation was not published. That is the punch. Gulf capital is buying a seat on a US floor robot, not announcing a factory in Khalifa Industrial Zone. Maven, founded in 2024 by Hamza Derbas, started on mixed-case palletising and tote handling, work it prices as an 80 billion dollar market. It now talks about broader material handling and assembly. The new money is earmarked for 250 third-generation machines and early design of a fourth. Derbas has said the firm is not racing to build the biggest model. It is racing to solve industrial labour, one customer problem at a time. Company-reported operations should stay labelled as such. Robots already run up to 16 hours a day on site, Maven says, with reliability above 99 percent. Coverage of the stealth exit described fleets at a Fortune 250 consumer-goods customer, with as many as eight robots on the floor, after a 2024 bake-off the startup entered with little more than a drawing. Targets attached to the raise: 100,000 autonomous hours by the end of 2026 and one million by the end of 2027. Those are forecasts. Jack Pearson of RoboStrategy put the real test in one line: a demo is not three production shifts, seven days a week. Presight is majority-owned by G42. The joint vehicle with Shorooq launched in September 2025 with a 100 million dollar target for global AI companies. Partner Bilal Baloch said the next wave of AI is the physical economy. Presight chief executive Thomas Pramotedham said the fund is there to help names like Maven scale. Derbas said the UAE partners add compute, data and enterprise relationships, not only cash. That is the Abu Dhabi offer: G42-adjacent infrastructure plus a regional distribution story that has not been contracted in public. The MENA angle is outbound industrial AI, not inbound warehouse jobs. Shorooq has spent years on regional software. This ticket sits in California hardware. If Maven later deploys in a Jebel Ali or Riyadh DC, the fund did more than decorate a cap table. If the robots stay in US CPG aisles, the story is still real. It is just a portfolio line. Caveats: 99 percent reliability is a vendor metric. An 80 billion dollar TAM is an estimate. Eight live robots and a plan for 250 are different businesses. Undisclosed UAE amounts mean you cannot size Abu Dhabi’s influence inside the 100 million dollars. “General-purpose industrial robot” is a positioning phrase until the fourth generation ships. If Maven publishes installed gen-3 units and hours after this Series A, production scaled. If the next note is only another fund logo, count machines on shifts. Watch the 250-unit build, not the TAM slide.
