UAE-based fintech Fasset has raised 68 million dollars in a Series C led by Japan's SBI Group, hitting a 1 billion dollar valuation and unicorn status. The stablecoin neobanking platform reached the milestone just three months after its Series B.

Fasset Series C funding of 68 million dollars has vaulted the UAE-based fintech into unicorn territory, and the speed of its ascent is as notable as the milestone itself. Fasset, an AI-powered stablecoin neobanking platform, raised the round led by Japan's SBI Group at a 1 billion dollar valuation, joining an elite club of UAE-born billion-dollar companies alongside Kitopi, Tabby and Careem. What makes the raise especially striking is its timing, coming just three months after Fasset closed a 51 million dollar Series B in May, taking its total fundraising this year to 119 million dollars and reflecting the intense investor appetite now flowing toward stablecoin infrastructure. What Fasset does places it at the centre of one of the most consequential shifts in global finance. Founded in Los Angeles in 2019 by Mohammad Raafi Hossain and Daniel Ahmed, both former staff at the UAE Prime Minister's Office, Fasset operates a platform that lets individuals, businesses and institutions receive, hold, transfer, spend and invest across currencies and asset classes, using stablecoins for settlement behind the scenes. Its core infrastructure, called Own Network, is a regulated financial network connecting banks, telecom operators, payment providers, liquidity and custody firms and settlement systems across more than 100 banking corridors. The clever part is that customers never have to touch the underlying crypto machinery, accessing everything through familiar financial products and accounts while stablecoins quietly handle cross-border settlement underneath. Fasset also uses AI to route transactions across networks, currencies and liquidity providers based on cost, speed and availability, and the fresh capital will deepen that agentic AI capability alongside expanding the network and tokenised asset infrastructure. The scale Fasset has already reached explains the unicorn valuation. The platform now processes more than 40 billion dollars in annualised transaction volume, up sharply from 32 billion dollars when it announced its Series B just months earlier, and it serves over 3 million wallets and more than 1,000 enterprises across 125 countries. Crucially, it is heavily regulated, holding approvals across the UAE, Indonesia, Malaysia, the European Union, Turkey and Pakistan, and it has held an active Virtual Asset Service Provider licence from Dubai's VARA since November 2023, nearly three years ahead of the current stablecoin funding wave. That early regulatory positioning is a genuine competitive advantage in a space where compliance is the barrier to serious adoption. The regional and strategic significance is considerable, and the choice of backer is telling. SBI Group, the Tokyo financial conglomerate, is one of the most active traditional financial firms in digital assets, with holdings in Ripple, Circle and Morpho, and its chairman framed Fasset as a financial bridge connecting Japan with high-growth markets. That points to Fasset's real ambition, to move money across emerging markets as easily as information moves, serving the underbanked corridors between the Gulf, Asia and beyond that legacy banking serves poorly and expensively. Fasset's rise underscores the UAE's deliberate positioning as a global hub for regulated digital-asset innovation, offering the clear frameworks that let stablecoin companies build at scale, and it fits the broader Gulf pattern of embracing blockchain-based finance within firm regulatory guardrails rather than shunning it. The honest caveats are real. Stablecoin regulation is still evolving globally and could tighten in ways that reshape the business, raising two rounds at a rapidly rising valuation within a single year invites questions about how much of the price reflects hype versus fundamentals, and cross-border settlement is a fiercely competitive field. But the Fasset Series C funding backs a genuinely fast-growing, heavily regulated company with real transaction volume and a powerful strategic partner, and its bet that stablecoins will become the invisible plumbing of global money movement positions it well at the frontier of digital finance.
