About Wataniya
Wataniya, also written Wataneya and known as Wataniya Petroleum, is an Egyptian fuel retailer. Egypt Oil and Gas reported in June 2026 that the network has 296 stations nationwide and a 7.3 percent share of the country's fuel retail market, while Enterprise put the figure at 294 stations. Bloomberg reported in June 2021, in coverage carried by Arab News and World Oil, that it operated more than 200 filling stations.
Wataniya is owned by the National Service Projects Organization, which is affiliated with the Ministry of Defence. In June 2021 Bloomberg reported that Petromin of Saudi Arabia, ENOC of Dubai, ADNOC of Abu Dhabi and TAQA Arabia were bidding for a stake, in a sale described as the first of up to 10 companies of the organization that could be offered to investors. In October 2023 Business Today Egypt reported that TAQA Arabia, ADNOC with ENOC, and North Petroleum International Company were competing for the business, and that Shell and Saudi Aramco had formed an alliance to bid.
Enterprise reported that the Sovereign Fund of Egypt began restructuring Wataniya in April 2025. On 11 June 2026 the organization and TAQA Arabia signed an agreement under which 172 Wataniya stations are transferred into a new company, Quick Fuel for Petroleum Products Trading and Distribution. TAQA Arabia acquires 10 percent of Quick Fuel, manages and operates the stations under a separate contract and holds an option on a further 15 percent when Quick Fuel is listed on the Egyptian Exchange. The Sovereign Fund of Egypt managed the offering process as transaction advisor. The price and the listing date were not disclosed.
