The company began commercial operations on 1 March 2009 and launched fibre-based fixed services for homes and businesses in October 2012. It was originally controlled by a joint venture of Vodafone Group and Qatar Foundation. In February 2018 Vodafone Group agreed to sell its 51 percent interest in that joint venture to Qatar Foundation for QAR 1,350 million, and the sale completed on 29 March 2018. In April 2026 the company completed the acquisition of Maktapp, a Qatari cloud business software and invoicing company, through its subsidiary Infinity Fintech Ventures, without disclosing terms. Wamda reported that it aims to combine connectivity, fintech and business software, and it offers iPay, a licensed e-wallet.
For 2025 the company reported revenue of QAR 3,447 million, up 8.1 percent, and net profit of QAR 702 million, up 16.8 percent, with 2.2 million mobile customers at 31 December 2025. The board recommended a cash dividend of 12 percent of nominal share value for 2025.
