About Virtual Medical Academy
Virtual Medical Academy (VMA) is a Saudi healthcare education platform for health professionals and health sciences students. On its own account, the idea took shape in 2011 from the observation that high-quality healthcare education was not equally accessible across Saudi Arabia, and the academy launched officially in 2013.
The company lists a series of milestones. In 2014 it became one of the first platforms in the region to broadcast medical conferences digitally. In 2015, during the MERS outbreak, it connected more than 100 hospitals. In 2020 it ran free educational programmes under an initiative called "Close from Afar" during COVID-19 while expanding its B2B services, and in 2021 it reported reaching about 300,000 healthcare professionals. In 2024 it announced a strategic direction titled "From Teaching to Learning", and it now describes itself as a learning ecosystem rather than a training provider.
The current site says the academy serves more than 500,000 healthcare professionals and the organisations that employ them, and that its programmes are accredited by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS). These are company-reported figures. The platform offers education programmes, a library, memberships, bundles such as a Healthcare Professional Development Bundle, digital products, an insights section and a B2B solution for institutions. It operates in Arabic and English.
The company is classed as a seed-stage healthcare business in the Madinah region. Founders, funding rounds and team details are not stated on the pages reviewed.
