TON Foundation (regional ops)

TON DLT Foundation is the Abu Dhabi registered regional arm of the global TON Foundation, formally established under the Abu Dhabi Global Market's Distributed Ledger Technology Foundations Regime in December 2024, becoming the second major blockchain foundation to register under this framework after the IOTA Foundation. The Open Network, commonly known as TON, is a high-speed layer-1 blockchain inherited from Telegram and originally conceived by Telegram's founders Pavel and Nikolai Durov, designed to support billions of users through ultra-fast transactions, low fees, and native Telegram mini-app integrations, with products such as the Telegram-native Wallet and CryptoBot having already onboarded tens of millions of users globally. The global TON Foundation is a non-profit established in Switzerland in 2023 and led by President Steve Yun, funded entirely by community contributions and responsible for ecosystem development across Europe and the West, while the Abu Dhabi DLT Foundation serves as its dedicated operational hub for the MENA and Asia-Pacific regions, prioritizing developer engagement, regulatory collaboration, and blockchain adoption in partnership with governments, financial institutions, and regional technology ecosystems. The ADGM DLT Foundations Regime provides the organization with a structured legal identity enabling it to enter contracts, open accounts, and govern transparently under UAE law, aligning with Abu Dhabi's broader strategy of becoming a global blockchain hub. The TON ecosystem targets 500 million users by 2028 across MENA and APAC, backed by a 25 million dollar accelerator program, a 5 million dollar OKX Ventures investment into TON Ventures, and a 10 million dollar Telegram Growth Hub partnership with The Open Platform and Folius Ventures. TON Society UAE serves as the community arm supporting regional events, hackathons, and developer education.
