About The Chefz
The Chefz is a Saudi delivery app founded in 2016 in Riyadh. Its site lists more than 3,000 partner restaurants and also takes applications from sweets and cake shops, flowers and gifts, perfumes, pharmacies, coffee shops, butchers, juice shops and chefs, plus delivery drivers in Riyadh and Dammam.
The founders are Abdulrahman Alshabanat, co-founder and chief executive, and Abdulrahman Almarshad, co-founder and vice president. Wamda reported in February 2020 a six-figure seed round led by Vision Ventures with Impact46 and Ocean X, to expand to Dammam and Jeddah and invest in marketing and product. PitchBook lists a later seed deal of USD 1.6 million; its date was not confirmed.
Arabian Business reported that Delivery Hero's attempt to buy the company was rejected by the General Authority for Competition. In November 2022 Jahez agreed to acquire The Chefz, valuing equity at SAR 650 million (USD 173 million), paid in cash and new Jahez shares with a SAR 100 million earn-out tied to performance, according to BNN Bloomberg.
