About Tameed
Tameed is a Saudi digital lending platform that finances government purchase orders held by small and medium-sized businesses. Suppliers submit their purchase orders, the platform reviews them and quotes a financing price, and investors fund the orders through Shariah-compliant murabaha. When the government entity pays at maturity, Tameed settles with the investors. The Saudi Central Bank licenses it as a debt-based crowdfunding platform.
Mohammed Alomayyer and Mohammed Al Alshaikh founded the company, which Forbes Middle East dates to 2019. Alomayyer is chief executive. Before it was licensed, Tameed operated in the central bank's fintech sandbox, and its own news page records the licence on 1 January 2023. The board is chaired by Abdullah Al-Rumaih, with a Shariah committee headed by Sheikh Dr. Yousef Al Shubaily.
The platform offers purchase order financing to investors, buyers and suppliers. Tameed added financing for performance bonds on projects and an Auto-Invest product for investors, and it released a mobile app in September 2023. Its news page lists a partnership agreement with Trans Gulf, a strategic partnership with Mambo on Islamic financial technology, a workshop with Redington Group and sponsorship of the GTR Saudi 2022 conference, none of them dated.
On 28 December 2023 Tameed announced a Series A round of SAR 56.75 million, about USD 15 million, led by Alromaih Investment Group. Argaam and Arab News reported the same figures. The company said the money would help it meet rising demand for its lending products. At that point it said it had provided more than SAR 400 million to small businesses and that the app had 50,000 downloads.
Forbes Middle East placed Tameed 49th in its Middle East Fintech 50 list in April 2024. Tameed's figures page, updated to 30 June 2026, reports more than 223,000 successful investment requests, an average net annual return of 17 percent and non-performing loans of 1 percent of the portfolio. TechScoop coverage in 2026 lists Tameed among the platforms that moved from the central bank's sandbox into licensed operation, alongside Lendo, Forus and Funding Souq.
