About Stakpak

Stakpak is an Egyptian-founded developer-tools company that builds an open-source autonomous DevOps agent. According to its website, the agent runs on the user's own machines, keeps applications running and contacts a person only when needed. In July 2026 the company announced that it was joining Vercel.

George Fahmy founded Stakpak and is its chief executive. Techpoint Africa reported in March 2025 that he started work on the company in 2021 and went full-time in 2022, while other outlets give 2022 or 2023 as the founding year. WeeTracker describes the product as built in Cairo, and Launchbase Africa reports that Fahmy moved to San Francisco and kept the core engineering team in Egypt.

Stakpak began as an AI tool that generated infrastructure-as-code from plain language, working with Terraform and OpenTofu, and later became an agent that manages production infrastructure. The agent is written in Rust, released under the Apache 2.0 licence and run as a single binary, either through a terminal interface or as a background process. Its repository describes indexing of Terraform, Kubernetes, Dockerfile and GitHub Actions files, connections to Slack, Telegram and Discord, and support for Anthropic, OpenAI and Gemini models as well as local endpoints. Two security features are Warden, a network proxy that applies Cedar policies to the agent's requests, and substitution of secrets so that credentials do not reach model providers. The website says more than 5,000 developers use Stakpak, and the repository showed about 1,800 stars when read in October 2026.

Stakpak raised a USD 500,000 pre-seed round, announced in March 2025. Techpoint Africa reported that P1 Ventures led it, with Digital Currency Group, 500 Global and Instabug co-founders Moataz Soliman and Omar Gabr taking part, and that the money was meant to grow the team in the United States and Egypt. Launchbase Africa adds that the team had bootstrapped for two years before the round.

Vercel announced the acquisition of Stakpak in July 2026 and did not disclose financial terms. Launchbase Africa described it as Vercel's third acquisition in a year, after NuxtLabs in July 2025 and Better Auth.
