About Simplex

Simplex is an Egyptian company that designs, assembles and manufactures Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines, the automated tools factories use to cut and shape materials with high precision. It was founded in 2013 by Ahmed Shaaban and Mohamed Mansour, two engineers who turned a graduation project into a business. The company is a Flat6Labs graduate, according to Daba Finance. Simplex says it exports to 34 countries across Africa, Europe and the Middle East. The company reports more than 400 employees, over 4,500 customers and cumulative sales above USD 100 million. In 2025 coverage it described its machines as serving 50 industries in 21 countries. At the opening of its latest plant it announced partnership and agency agreements in Jordan and Kuwait. In January 2025 Simplex raised USD 13 million in a round led by Saudi Arabia's National Industrial Development Centre, which some outlets call the National Center for Industrial Development. The funding followed a memorandum of understanding with the centre to establish Simplex's first factory in the Kingdom. Wamda and Daba Finance reported that the factory was planned for a 20,000 square metre site in Riyadh and was expected to begin operating in the first quarter of 2026. Mohamed Mansour, the company's co-founder and chief commercial officer, said at the time that Saudi Arabia is a strategic hub for exporting CNC machines globally. The stage of the round and any other investors were not disclosed. In July 2026 Simplex inaugurated its second production facility in 10th of Ramadan City, a 40,000 square metre plant built with a reported investment of USD 50 million. That figure is expansion spending, not a fundraise. The ceremony was attended by Egypt's Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk, and a foundation stone was laid for a third factory. The company says the new facility doubles production capacity, shortens delivery times and reduces dependence on external suppliers. New machines were unveiled under a Proudly Made in Egypt label, and Simplex expects the expansion to create more than 1,000 direct jobs and over 10,000 indirect ones. Ahmed Shaaban, the founder and chief executive, was named among the Top 10 finalists of Africa's Business Heroes 2026, a programme that selected finalists from about 2,600 applicants across the continent. The finalists are due to compete in Kigali in December.
