About Sarat Investment
Sarat Investment is a Saudi-linked investment programme focused on biotechnology. In September 2026 StartupResearcher reported that Sarat Ventures had launched a biotech fund aiming to deploy USD 100 million across 15 to 20 companies. The same report describes a focus on later-stage businesses that already have commercial operations and annual revenues of up to roughly USD 2 million, including companies that have reached Series A financing or beyond and have started commercial, manufacturing and sales activities. Its stated aims include helping international firms set up in Saudi Arabia and helping local founders export. The report says the fund is registered in London. Spread over 20 companies, USD 100 million implies an average ticket of about USD 5 million. The target is a stated aim: no first close, portfolio or named cheques have been published. The programme follows an earlier vehicle. On 10 September 2025 the Sarat Ventures Y Innovations Biotech Fund (UK) was announced through GlobeNewswire. It was anchored by Allocator One and anticipated investing roughly USD 50 million in early-stage biotechnology companies with strategic connections to Saudi Arabia and the wider MENA region. The general partners named in the announcement are Dr. Megan Yung of Yung Ventures, a company of the Y Innovations Group, and Dr. Huda Alfardus, formerly of Healthgena, described as Saudi Arabia's first private accelerator. The fund draws on an alliance with Y Innovations Group, a life sciences venture group that reports a track record in early-stage biotech growth and exits. Launch coverage framed the fund against Saudi Vision 2030 diversification goals and a projected USD 11 billion to 12 billion Saudi biotech sector by 2030. The 2025 coverage describes early-stage targets while the 2026 report describes later-stage ones, and the two cite different fund sizes of USD 50 million and USD 100 million. The Sarat name also appears in Sarat Investments Holdings, a Saudi investment firm whose chairman is Saud bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud. In coverage of a partnership with Kuwait-based ARC Advisory, the holding company was described as managing more than USD 20 billion in assets, a figure that comes from the companies' own statements. Private Equity International lists one fund commitment by the holding company dated September 2025, with no size given. The 2026 announcement came during the weeks in which Riyadh hosted the Global Medical Biotechnology Summit, which organisers said closed with more than 40 agreements worth over 5 billion riyals.
