About Saher Flow Solutions

Saher Flow Solutions is a Saudi Arabia-based provider of advanced sensing technology for the oil and gas industry. Its products are patented water-cut meters and multiphase flow meters, which measure the mix of oil, water and gas coming out of a well without separating the streams first. Operators use such measurements to manage produced water, which raises the cost of each barrel.

The company was founded by Atif Shamim, a professor of electrical and computer engineering at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), and KAUST describes it as a portfolio company of KAUST Innovation Ventures. KAUST's own profile of the company says it was ranked among the top five emerging deep-tech startups in the Kingdom, with the assessment taking the funds raised into account, though no amount or investor list was given.

A notable milestone reported by KAUST is pre-qualification approval for the multiphase technology from Aramco, which followed blind flow-loop trials at a DNV test facility in the Netherlands. Shamim has said the company is the only multiphase metering provider in the GCC and has projected that local production could save the region imports worth up to US$500 million and create more than 200 direct jobs; these are the company's own projections.

The company's website positions Saher as a multiphase flow measurement technology provider serving Saudi Arabia. Its stage is listed as seed.
