About Safety Line
Safety Line developed software and data-analysis tools for aviation safety, efficiency and environmental performance. Founded in Paris in 2010 by Pierre Jouniaux, the company applied statistical methods and machine learning to operational information from aircraft and airports. Its work addressed both flight decisions and the movement of aircraft on the ground.
Its OptiFlight tools model individual aircraft performance and use weather information to support fuel-efficient decisions during climb, cruise and descent. AirsideWatch analyses surface-movement radar data to help airports understand traffic between gates and runways. A separate product, SafetyCube, supports proactive safety and compliance management for aviation organisations.
SITA acquired Safety Line in July 2021 following an earlier commercial partnership. The acquisition brought the product portfolio and specialist team into SITA's aircraft and airport technology operations. Combining OptiFlight with SITA's weather tools created a broader cockpit offering for pilots, while the safety and ground-operations products extended SITA's service range. Safety Line is therefore an acquired aviation-technology business, rather than a newly independent startup. Its development history shows how aircraft-specific analysis can be converted into tools used within operational planning and decision-making.
