About Rubikal
Rubikal is an Egyptian software engineering firm founded in 2016. It builds custom software for startups, small and medium-sized businesses and larger corporates, and specialises in assembling dedicated engineering teams for clients. Company listings place it in Egypt and the United Arab Emirates, with a team of roughly 50 to 60 people before its acquisition. Its work includes real-time, fault-tolerant web products for international clients, among them The Walt Disney Company, Discovery Inc., Vestaboard and Roadtrip Nation. Vestaboard, the maker of a connected split-flap-style display, is listed as a multi-year hardware partner, and other listed clients include Tadarab, Wizeline and Strada Education. For about three years Rubikal acted as an external engineering partner to iSchool, building and scaling much of the technology behind the learning platform. In April 2026 Cairo-based edtech company iSchool announced it had acquired Rubikal in full. The price was not disclosed, and the deal was reported as completed on 22 April 2026. Rubikal's engineering team of 21 software engineers moved into iSchool's technology division. Both Rubikal co-founders took executive roles at iSchool: Mohamed Ibrahim became chief technology officer, and Moustafa Badawy became vice president of engineering. iSchool was founded in 2018 and offers live, gamified coding lessons for school-age learners. It says it has graduated more than 150,000 students in over 20 countries, with a growing share of business coming from government and institutional partnerships. iSchool presented the acquisition as a step towards becoming an AI infrastructure layer for K-12 schools and towards owning its technology stack. Muhammad Gawish, iSchool's co-founder and chief executive, said the purchase aligns the two teams' capabilities and will speed up development of proprietary AI systems built for classrooms. Ibrahim described it as a chance to go beyond individual products and build an AI-powered ecosystem for schools.
