About Rimac
Rimac Group is a Croatian investment holding company that brings together hypercar and electrification technology businesses. Its portfolio companies are Bugatti Rimac, Rimac Technology, Rimac Energy and Verne. The group was formerly called Rimac Automobili and operates from the Rimac Campus near Zagreb.
Mate Rimac started the business in 2009 by converting a BMW E30 into an electric race car, and the company was registered in Sveta Nedelja, Croatia, that year. Rimac Automobili was renamed Rimac Group in 2021, and Rimac Technology was spun off from the former Rimac Automobili in 2022. Mate Rimac is Founder and President of the group and chief executive of Bugatti Rimac. In September 2026 the group named Matthias Wich chief financial officer, succeeding Peter Bednarik, and its governance page lists Gordon Kunstek as chief legal officer.
Rimac Technology is a Tier 1 supplier of battery systems, e-axles and electronic systems to vehicle makers it does not name, and it employs more than 1,000 people. Nurdin Pitarevic became its chief executive in February 2026, taking over from Mate Rimac. Verne works on autonomous mobility operations and says it launched a robotaxi service in April 2026.
Bugatti Rimac was formed in November 2021 from Rimac Automobili and Bugatti Automobiles, and the group holds 55 percent of it. In October 2026 Rimac Technology and Dubai-based ECOBLOX agreed to co-develop a modular data centre using Rimac battery and power electronics. TechScoop reported in September 2026 that Ceer has named Rimac among its partners.
In June 2022 Rimac Group raised 500 million euros in a Series D round at a valuation above 2 billion euros, led by SoftBank Vision Fund 2 and Goldman Sachs Asset Management, with Porsche and InvestIndustrial also participating. Its website says Mate Rimac remains the largest shareholder. On 9 September 2026 the group announced that a consortium led by HOF Capital, with BlueFive Capital as its largest investor, had completed the purchase of Porsche's 21 percent stake in Rimac Group and 45 percent stake in Bugatti Rimac. The price was not disclosed.
