About Quick Fuel for Petroleum Products Trading and Distribution
Quick Fuel for Petroleum Products Trading and Distribution is a newly established Egyptian company created to hold and operate 172 fuel stations under the Wataniya brand. The stations were previously owned by the National Service Projects Organization (NSPO), the economic arm of the Egyptian armed forces, and are being transferred into the new company following a restructuring. In June 2026, TAQA Arabia, the listed Egyptian energy and distribution group, signed an agreement with the NSPO to become a partner in Quick Fuel. TAQA Arabia is acquiring a 10 percent stake and will also manage and operate the business under a separate management contract, with responsibility for daily operations, development plans, service quality and geographic expansion of the network. It holds an option to buy a further 15 percent once Quick Fuel is listed on the Egyptian Exchange, so the transaction is widely read as preparation for a future share offering. Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly witnessed the signing. Reports describe the deal as one of the first partial exits by the NSPO under Egypt's State Ownership Policy and as part of the privatisation programme linked to the country's International Monetary Fund arrangement. The Sovereign Fund of Egypt acted as adviser. TAQA Arabia's chief executive, Pakinam Kafafi, called the agreement a strategic milestone. The NSPO has held a 20 percent stake in TAQA Arabia since July 2023, when it acquired the shares from Qalaa Holdings. TAQA had made a non-binding offer for Wataniya stations that year. The Wataniya brand operates a nationwide network that press reports put at roughly 294 to 296 stations, so the 172 stations in Quick Fuel are a majority of, but not the whole, network. Pricing and the timetable for a listing have not been disclosed. Officials have described the structure as a possible template for other NSPO transactions.
