About Qatar International Islamic Bank

Qatar International Islamic Bank, known as QIIB, is a Qatar-based bank that provides Shariah-compliant banking to personal and corporate customers through branches across Qatar. The Qatar Central Bank is its regulator. The bank describes itself as privately owned.

QIIB says it was established in 1991. Its board has 11 members for the 2026 to 2028 term, approved at the annual general meeting on 26 March 2026, which also reappointed Sheikh Khalid Thani Abdullah Al Thani as chairman and named Sheikh Abdullah Thani Abdullah Al Thani vice chairman and managing director. Directors include representatives of Medicare Group, Inma Holding and Qatar Islamic Insurance Group, alongside independent members. Dr Abdulbasit Ahmed Al Shaibei is chief executive, supported by an executive management team of eleven.

The bank organises its business around personal banking, a corporate sector, and treasury and investment. In 2025 it launched what Gulf Times described as the first SWIFT gpi Tracker on a mobile banking app in Qatar and partnered with Qatar Airways on a co-branded card. It lists ISO 27001 and PCI DSS certification on its website.

On 30 July 2026 QIIB and The Group Securities signed a memorandum of understanding to develop digital services for capital market investors. TechScoop reported in July 2026 that QIIB had become a strategic investor in the Qatari payments company SkipCash, with the amount undisclosed. QIIB listed its first riyal-denominated sukuk on the Qatar Stock Exchange in 2025, and shareholders approved the renewal of a US$2 billion sukuk programme and a new Tier 1 sukuk of up to US$500 million, subject to central bank approval.

For 2025, QIIB reported net profit of QR1.35 billion, up 7.2 percent, total assets of QR62.6 billion, total equity of QR10.1 billion and customer deposits of QR43.3 billion, on 26 January 2026. Its board proposed a total cash dividend of 53 percent for the year. The bank's website reports H1 2026 net profit of QR713 million, up 3.5 percent. In June 2026 Moody's affirmed its long-term issuer rating at A2 with a stable outlook.
