About Oktopi
oktopi is an education technology company based in Dubai. Its owner, oktopi Edutech Ltd, describes the product as a workspace solution for education that helps educators and institutions create and sell courses and programmes, and it also runs a marketplace feature called Learnspace. Software directory listings describe it as a cohort-based learning management platform with live session booking, online payments and analytics, available in Arabic and English and integrating with Zoom and Stripe.
The company was founded in 2021 by Emilie Thomas and Fadi Abbas, according to its own September 2022 release and Wamda. Some directories give 2020 instead. The release quotes Thomas as co-founder, and Wamda names Abbas as a founder. In that release the company said it served about 22,000 educators and institutions. It named no customers.
On 29 September 2022 oktopi announced the full acquisition of Tutor House, a UK online tutoring platform founded in 2012 by Alex Dyer, which it said had about 20,000 tutors on its platform. Dyer, Tutor House's founder and chief executive, was to become Head of Tutorspace at oktopi. The price was not disclosed. oktopi said the deal would expand its presence in Europe and the Middle East and North Africa.
TechScoop reported in February 2026 that Tutor House had since been acquired by Alefredo, an edtech company founded in Amman, for USD 600,000 mainly in Alefredo equity, and described oktopi as the platform's previous owner.
Globivest shows oktopi among the companies it backs on its website, and CB Insights lists a seed round with Globivest and B&Y Venture Partners as investors. Neither source gives an amount or date in the pages read, so no funding round is recorded here.
As of October 2026 the oktopi.ai address named in the 2022 release shows a domain-for-sale listing, and no recent announcements from the company were found. A separate Australian company with a similar name uses oktopi.com and is unrelated.
