About Okadoc

Okadoc is a Dubai-based online platform for booking doctor appointments in the Gulf and Southeast Asia. Patients search for practitioners by location, insurance and date, read doctor and facility profiles, and receive an instant booking confirmation for an in-person or video consultation. Okadoc's website lists the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Indonesia as its operating markets, with offices in Dubai Healthcare City, Abu Dhabi at Hub71, Jakarta and Riyadh. Its legal entity is Okadoc Technologies FZ-LLC.

Fodhil Benturquia founded the company in the UAE in 2018, according to Entrepreneur Middle East and The National, and is described as founder and chief executive in coverage from 2019 and 2020. The company's about page says he started it after spending a long time on hold to book an appointment when he fell ill in 2017. He previously worked in regional e-commerce at MarkaVIP, Souq and Noon.

For healthcare providers, Okadoc sells an appointment management service that covers profile setup, online booking at any hour, ID validation, insurance upload, online payment, reminders and video consultations. It can be styled to a provider's brand, embedded in a provider's own website and app, and integrated with the provider's health information system. A 2020 release named Medcare, Aster Hospitals and Emirates Healthcare Group among its partners, and a 2019 interview added Zulekha Healthcare Group, NMC and Dubai Healthcare City.

Okadoc raised a seed round of 2.3 million US dollars in 2018 and announced a 10 million dollar Series A in February 2020. Abu Dhabi Investment Office and Ithmar Capital Partners took part, and the company said the money was for launching telemedicine in the UAE and expanding into Saudi Arabia. At that point it reported more than 1,000 bookable doctors across 70 specialties. Data aggregators CB Insights and DxbStart list a further 10 million dollar round in November 2022, which no news source read for this profile confirms.

The company's site states ISO/IEC 27001 certification for its UAE, Saudi, Indonesian and US entities and HIPAA compliance.
