About Ocean Revive

Ocean Revive is a coral reef restoration consultancy that sells reef programmes to the tourism and hospitality industry. It calls itself a Reef Estate developer, treating restored reef as an asset that supports a property's brand, guest experience and press coverage. The contact page lists a United Kingdom base and active regions of MENA, the Caribbean and the Indian Ocean.

The company says it was founded in 2021 by Dr Sebastian Schmidt-Roach and Dr Rebecca Klaus, who had worked together on the concept and design of what the company describes as the world's largest coral restoration project, in Saudi Arabia. A speaker biography from the IUCN Congress 2025 describes Schmidt-Roach as co-founder and CEO of Ocean Revive and as having co-conceptualised the coral gardening project at NEOM's Shushah Island. Klaus is listed on the site as co-founder and COO, with a background in conservation, international development and marine policy. The site credits the team with 45 combined years of reef science.

Three services are described. Reef assessment and strategy evaluates a reef's health and identifies coral genotypes expected to survive warming seas, ending in a restoration roadmap. End-to-end restoration programmes cover coral nurseries, heat-tolerant outplanting, real-time monitoring and impact data; the company claims delivery 30 times faster and at one-tenth the cost of conventional methods, which is its own figure. Guest experiences and reef tourism turn programmes into conservation dives and live reef dashboards. Brand partnerships cover reef-positive products and corporate responsibility work.

The company's timeline lists acceptance into the KAUST TAQADAM accelerator in 2022 (cohort 8), first commercial programmes with Jumeirah Group and Dubai Holding in 2024, and in 2025 a partnership with Cariva in Anguilla for what it calls the first reef-positive rum. For 2026 it states a plan to expand across MENA and the Caribbean, targeting 1.3 hectares restored and USD 1.2 million in revenue, with Series A preparation under way. No funding rounds were found in public records.
