About Noon Academy
Noon Academy is a Saudi education technology company based in Riyadh. It runs a mobile learning platform for school students that combines live classes, recorded lessons and study tools with a social element in which students learn together. The company was launched in 2013 by Dr Abdulaziz AlSaeed and Mohammed Aldhalaan; funding coverage has described Aldhalaan as co-founder and chief executive. The platform grew through a freemium model. Wamda reported in 2017 that the model had helped Noon attract 100,000 students in the fall of 2014, and that the Saudi teaching platform had gone on to reach a million students. When it announced its Series A in 2019, the company cited more than two million students and 1,500 certified tutors. In 2020, as schools moved online during the coronavirus pandemic, it said its user base had roughly doubled to three million students. Forbes Middle East later listed more than 6.9 million registered students on the platform. Noon Academy raised an USD 8.6 million Series A in June 2019, co-led by Raed Ventures and Saudi Technology Ventures (STV), with participation from the Saudi Venture Capital Company and Alisamiah Investment. Coverage at the time called it the largest round raised by an edtech start-up from the Middle East and North Africa. In June 2020 the company closed a USD 13 million pre-Series B round led by STV, which took its total funding to more than USD 21 million. Forbes Middle East puts total funding at USD 21.6 million at that point and lists Raed Ventures, STV, NFX and the Saudi Venture Capital Company among its investors. Wamda has since reported a Series B of SAR 153 million (about USD 40.8 million), led by Wa'ed Ventures and Raed Ventures. In July 2026 Wamda reported that Noon Academy had acquired Almakhfi, a Saudi platform for preparation for the Qudurat and Tahsili national exams. The deal is intended to widen the company's offering for middle and high school students. Almakhfi has supported more than 250,000 students preparing for the Saudi national examinations.
