About Nama Ventures
Nama Ventures is an early-stage venture capital firm that invests in technology startups across the Middle East and North Africa, with a focus on Saudi Arabia. Its website describes it as a technology-focused venture capital fund, and its press kit says it is regulated by the Saudi Capital Market Authority (CMA) and moved its regulatory base from the Cayman Islands to Saudi Arabia. The site lists CMA licence number 24293-02 for managing investments, dated 4 September 2024.
Forbes Middle East says the firm was established in 2020 by Mohammed Alzubi, who made nearly 110 angel investments from 2005. In April 2021 Wamda reported that Nama Ventures had launched a fund of nearly 27 million dollars (SAR 100 million) for pre-seed and seed startups, with Abdullah Alaraj as managing partner and Alzubi as partner. Alzubi is now listed as founder, chief executive and managing partner. The team page also names HRH Sultan Bin Fahad Bin Salman Al Saud as chairman and general partner, and Deema Alyahya as a board member.
Forbes Middle East puts Nama Fund I at 32 million dollars and counts 36 portfolio companies, including Salla, Tamara, Calo, Termii, eZhire and Duplo. The press kit says the firm has backed more than 60 startups, and Bridge Middle East reported 39 in June 2025; these counts differ by source and date. Brev.dev, a portfolio company, was acquired by NVIDIA in July 2024, according to Forbes Middle East.
Nama Ventures took part in the SAR 132 million (35 million dollars) Series A of the Saudi proptech company Rize, led by Raed Ventures, and led the 1.7 million dollar seed round of Nowlun together with A15, according to its press kit. A TechScoop article of 17 September 2026 lists Nama Ventures among the names on the cap table of the Saudi rent platform Rise.
Bridge Middle East reported in June 2025 that Nama Ventures was the first licensed foreign venture capital fund in Saudi Arabia.
