About Lola

Lola is a Bahrain-based foodtech company, operating as Lola Do Inc., that runs a mobile app for designing and ordering custom cakes. Customers build a cake in the app's visual builder in about a minute, choosing from thousands of combinations of design, colour and decoration, and the order is delivered to their door or directly to a gift recipient.

Othman Janahi founded Lola in 2023 and serves as its founder and chief executive. He built the company through the entrepreneur-in-residence programme at Calo, a Bahraini foodtech company, according to Startup Bahrain. Lola launched in Bahrain in September 2023 and entered Riyadh in July 2024 and the United Arab Emirates in December 2024. It added Qatar and Kuwait in 2025, giving it five Gulf markets. Startup Bahrain reported that Lola had more than 121,500 registered users and had baked and sold over 43,000 cakes by 2026, and that Egypt is planned as the next market.

Lola first worked as a software layer connecting customers with local bakeries. The company says the arrangement allowed quick entry into new markets but produced inconsistent quality, and it is moving to a central production base in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, supported by a network of cloud bakeries that exist only to fill online orders. It also plans to widen the app into a platform for celebrations, including gifting and decoration.

In February 2025 Lola announced a USD 1.3 million pre-seed round from Vision Ventures, Plus VC and strategic angel investors, as reported by Wamda. On 27 April 2026 it announced a USD 3 million seed round led by Vision Ventures, with Aljazira Capital, Seedra Ventures and Plus VC taking part. The company has raised USD 4.3 million in total across the two rounds, and the seed proceeds are earmarked for the Dammam facility and the cloud-bakery network.
