About Lifeline Ventures
Lifeline Ventures is a venture capital firm based in Helsinki, Finland, that describes itself as a sector agnostic investor at the pre-seed and seed stages. According to a 2023 TechCrunch report, it typically invests between 150,000 and 2 million euros at the angel and seed stages, with some Series A follow-on investments, and about 95 percent of its investments go to Finnish startups.
Timo Ahopelto and Petteri Koponen founded the firm in 2009, and both remain founding partners. Juha Lindfors is managing partner and joined as a partner in 2016. Other partners include Jyri Engeström, Teemu Mattila (2023) and Elina Holkko (2022), who is also chief financial officer.
TechCrunch reported in 2023 that Lifeline had invested in about 115 companies and had more than a dozen exits. Its website lists ICEYE, Oura, Supercell, Wolt, Aiven, Smartly, Swappie and Solar Foods among its portfolio companies. TechCrunch noted that Tencent bought a majority stake in Supercell in 2016 and that DoorDash acquired Wolt in 2021 in an all-stock deal valued at 8.1 billion US dollars. Its site says Verda raised a 163 million euro Series B in September 2026 with Lifeline participating.
Lifeline's compliance page lists funds ranging from 17.1 million euros for Fund II and 28.8 million euros for Fund I to 154.5 million euros for Fund V and 424.9 million euros for Fund VI. TechCrunch reported Fund V closing at 150 million euros in May 2023. In October 2025 the Finnish Venture Capital Association published the firm's announcement of a 400 million euro first closing for Fund VI, which the firm called the largest single venture fund in Finland. The compliance page says pension funds are its largest investor group at 33 percent.
The funds are managed by Lifeline Ventures Fund Management Oy, a registered alternative investment fund manager, and LLV Fund Management Oy, an authorised manager, both supervised by the Finnish Financial Supervisory Authority. The firm says it is a signatory of the UN-supported Principles for Responsible Investment.
TechScoop named Lifeline among ICEYE's investors in June 2026.
