About Kara
Kara is a Saudi device-as-a-service company that rents consumer electronics to businesses rather than selling them. Its website, which runs in Arabic and English, describes the offer as a way for organisations of different sizes and sectors to equip staff with Apple and Lenovo devices without buying them outright.
The company's catalogue covers laptops, tablets and smartphones. Starting prices published on the site are SAR 250 a month for a laptop, SAR 130 a month for a tablet and SAR 250 a month for a smartphone. Rental periods run from 6 to 36 months, and Kara says it can design a custom arrangement for a client's needs. The service includes free delivery, fast repair of faults and replacement devices where needed. Kara also says customers can upgrade devices as the business changes and scale their fleet up or down without complex procedures, with attention to data security.
The site positions the model as a way to cut up-front capital costs and keep cash inside the business, and describes Kara as a Saudi trading-sector company that aims to help organisations improve productivity while reducing the financial and environmental footprint of owning devices. It lists a client section and describes itself as the fastest-growing device rental service for companies in the Kingdom, a claim that is the company's own.
Wamda reported in March 2023 that Kara raised about USD 586,000 (SAR 2.2 million) in a pre-seed round announced at the Biban 2023 event in Riyadh. The round was led by Falak Investment Hub and Lean Node, with a group of angel investors also taking part. Wamda reported that the company was founded in 2022 by Saad Zaitoui. Dealroom lists the round as seed, while Wamda describes it as pre-seed. CB Insights shows the same single round of roughly USD 590,000.
No later funding rounds were found in public records reviewed.
