About Jordan Capital and Investment Fund
Jordan Capital and Investment Fund, known as JCIF, is a private-sector investment fund based in Amman that puts growth capital into Jordanian companies able to create jobs and export. Its website describes it as Jordan's largest private-sector investment fund and says it is closed-ended and does not manage external money.
JCIF was launched in March 2021 and is owned by Jordanian commercial and Islamic banks. Its website names 14 owner banks while its press releases and Arab News say 16. Committed capital is JOD 275 million, or USD 388 million. The fund began operations in November 2022 and was registered at the Ministry of Investment on 31 December 2023 under the Investment Environment Law of 2022. Hani Al-Qadi, who also chairs Arab Jordan Investment Bank, is chairman. Faris Sharaf, a former governor of the Central Bank of Jordan, has been chief executive since February 2022, and Zaid Tarawneh is chief operating officer.
The fund invests around four themes: food and agriculture, healthcare, the knowledge economy, and manufacturing.
Its first announced investment was a minority stake in the data-centre operator Aqaba Digital Hub in August 2023. Later deals included Al-Shaikh Cheese in January 2024, Sinokrot Poultry Farms in May 2024 and a 28 percent stake in Horizon for Plastic Products in October 2024. In May 2025 it took 23.3 percent of the poultry processor Al Jazeera Agriculture and said its investments totalled JOD 100 million across six Jordanian companies. In October 2025 it announced a 27 percent stake in the health-insurance administrator NatHealth and said it had deployed more than JOD 111 million.
In May 2026 JCIF announced Manara Ventures, a JOD 50 million (about USD 70.5 million) fund for growth-stage Jordanian technology companies. The fund is established in Abu Dhabi Global Market and structured as Sharia-compliant, with Abu Dhabi investment firm Lunate named as a backer. Manara plans to invest USD 750,000 to USD 3 million per company in more than 20 companies, and Luma Fawaz, formerly chief executive of Oasis500, is its chief executive.
