About JoAcademy
JoAcademy is a Jordanian online education company based in Amman. It offers live, recorded and interactive classes for school students from grade 1 through the Tawjihi secondary exams, together with university and international programmes. The company's website says it began in 2014 and is now part of Ula Group, which was established in 2025.
Alaa Jarrar was named as general manager of Jo Academy in Jordan News coverage in April 2025. The about page says the platform has served nearly 3 million students, works with nearly 600 teachers and employs more than 700 people. Global Private Capital reported that headcount grew from 83 to 478 as of October 2024, after Foursan Group invested.
Beyond courses, the company lists a library of booklets and question banks, teacher office hours, an AI assistant called Ulaim and a student community called Shababeek. Its regional platforms are Mfhoum, Ula Saudi Arabia and Ula Iraq, and MENA Startup Digest reported in June 2026 that it serves more than 2.1 million students in Jordan, Iraq, Palestine and Saudi Arabia. It also runs Wise School, a free platform for Palestinian students that, according to Jordan News in April 2025, had been used by 1.2 million students in Gaza and the West Bank.
The about page lists Zain, Orange and Al-Hussein Technical University among its partners. It also says that 31 of the 35 top Tawjihi achievers nationwide in 2025 studied on the platform.
Global Private Capital reported that Foursan Group invested in JoAcademy in November 2021 without an amount. MENA Startup Digest and Lucidity Insights reported that JoAcademy raised a USD 28 million Series B in 2025, led by Rua Ventures with a consortium of 16 Jordanian banks. Caplight dates the round to November 2024, so the timing is not settled.
In June 2026 JoAcademy acquired NoNerds, a Jordanian AI education marketplace founded in 2022, in a deal reported at about USD 140,000. NoNerds founder Mohammad Alsufi joined JoAcademy to lead its AI initiatives. Lucidity Insights said the technology is meant to support personalised learning paths, AI tutoring and automated assessment.
