About Ithnain

Ithnain (إثنين, Arabic for "two") is a Saudi digital health company whose app is aimed at people living with diabetes. The name reflects its model: a patient and a specialist working together. Users register their details, choose a package and a specialist, and then take part in sessions with a multidisciplinary team covering diabetes education, nutrition and mental health.

Per the company's website, sessions can be held as calls, voice notes, text messages or interactive whiteboards, and users can book appointments at times that suit them. The app connects daily blood sugar readings and medication patterns with the care team, keeps summaries of past sessions available, and offers individual packages with personalised plans. The site also carries articles, medical calculators, a health referral service and an "Invest on us" page for prospective investors, and it is available in Arabic and English.

Techstars lists Ithnain as a Riyadh-based seed-stage company founded in 2019 with 11 to 50 employees. CB Insights reports total funding of about USD 160,000, including USD 120,000 raised in June 2023, with the Techstars Riyadh accelerator and the Misk Accelerator as investors. Sources disagree on the founders: CB Insights lists Mohammed Alsheikh and, on one page, Jack Brannelly, and names Grant Newton as chief executive on another.

Arab News reported that Ithnain signed a memorandum of understanding with the Saudi Ministry of Health covering more than 10,000 patients in the ministry's diabetes centres, and cited a record of supporting more than 24,000 patients and 34 percent month-over-month growth. Its chief financial officer, Meshari Althowaini, signed on behalf of the company.
