About InDrive
inDrive is a ride-hailing and mobility platform whose distinguishing feature is that passengers propose the fare for a trip and drivers can accept it or counter-offer, rather than the price being set by an algorithm. The company positions this peer-to-peer pricing model against larger competitors that charge drivers commissions of 25 to 40 percent, and says its service fees are lower than typical industry levels. Arsen Tomsky founded the business, which began in Yakutsk, Russia, and he is listed as chief executive. Sources differ on whether it started in 2012 or 2013. Wikipedia and other profiles list its headquarters as Mountain View, California. According to Wikipedia, inDrive has about 3,000 employees and operates in 48 countries and roughly 1,200 cities, although city counts vary between profiles. One profile reports that the app has been downloaded more than 240 million times. A corporate venture arm invests in consumer start-ups, mainly in emerging markets, and the company has expanded beyond ride-hailing into other services. On financing, inDrive has relied on debt rather than a widely reported equity round. In 2023 General Catalyst provided a USD 150 million financing arrangement, which was later expanded to USD 300 million. The company said the funds would be used to accelerate growth, improve the product and enter new markets, and reported that net revenue grew 54 percent in 2023. One third-party listing puts 2025 gross bookings at USD 6.4 billion and revenue at USD 601.6 million, but that figure has not been confirmed by the company. The Middle East and North Africa are important markets. Reporting describes strong positions in Morocco, Egypt and Algeria. In Saudi Arabia, inDrive obtained a licence to operate ride-hailing in April 2025, as reported by Arab News in a sponsored-content piece, and was already running in Jeddah at that point. Saudi Arabia was described as the company's 49th market. The service then launched in Riyadh, its second Saudi city, with an official launch timed for Saudi National Day on 23 September after a period of test operation. Country manager Abdulrahman Basallum has said the model in which drivers and riders set fares is central to the company's appeal in the Kingdom. Intelligent CIO reported that the Riyadh launch includes driver verification, ride tracking and round-the-clock customer support. The company describes itself as a mobility technology business serving cities in Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East.
