About iMile

iMile is a last-mile delivery company based in Dubai. In 2020 The National described it as running cash-on-delivery service and offering warehouse and fulfilment facilities in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, together with cross-border shipping and customs clearance in both countries. In 2021 Wamda reported that it handled business-to-business and business-to-consumer deliveries across the Middle East and that its chief executive described it as one of the larger shippers from China.

iMile was founded in 2017. Forbes Middle East lists Rita Huang, Naveen Joseph and Gao Wenli as founders and says the company launched in the UAE and China in June 2017 and expanded to Saudi Arabia in 2018. Huang is founder and chief executive; The National reported that she was previously chief technology officer of an Alibaba joint venture in Dubai and country manager for Huawei in the UAE. Forbes Middle East adds that Joseph was formerly a manager at Amazon.

In February 2020 The National reported about 700 employees across the UAE, Saudi Arabia and China, nearly 40 percent of them engineers, and two research and development centres in China, in Shenzhen and Hangzhou. It named Amazon, Noon, Mumzworld, Shein and Club Factory among its clients, and said the company was breaking even. Wamda reported in November 2021 that iMile had about 100 engineers in China and a delivery app for tracking, scheduling and booking orders.

iMile raised USD 10 million in a pre-Series A round announced in March 2020, led by an unnamed China-based venture firm focused on logistics. In November 2021 it raised a USD 40 million Series A, which Wamda reported at a valuation of USD 350 million. Retail Brew, citing Bloomberg, reported that ByteDance was among the investors with USD 10 million. The funds were intended for technology upgrades and expansion across the GCC, North Africa and Latin America. In 2020 the company also named Egypt, Kuwait and Morocco as possible next markets.
