Its US website says it provides liquidity in listed options, crypto and ETFs and trades on more than 120 venues. The group reports about 2,070 employees in ten offices across four continents.

IMC says it began in 1989 with two traders on the floor of the Equity Options Exchange in Amsterdam. Its history page records new offices in Chicago in 2000, Sydney in 2002, Hong Kong in 2006, Seoul in 2020, Mumbai in 2021 and London in 2022, and the 2022 acquisition of a Zug-based crypto trading firm. A new office in Aarhus opened in 2025, and in August 2026 IMC announced a larger New York office for systematic equities.

Michaël De Lathauwer is named as chief executive in IMC's 2025 annual report announcement of March 2026. Kyle Gray is managing director of IMC U.S., and on 19 October 2026 IMC appointed Meaghan Dugan, previously head of US derivatives at Cboe Global Markets, as managing director and US market structure strategy lead in Chicago.

On 1 January 2024 IMC made a new US holding company, IMC Global Holdings LLC, the global parent of the group. IMC said its headquarters and tax residence remain in the Netherlands, and that the Dutch central bank granted a declaration of no objection.

In February 2023 IMC Investments made a strategic investment of undisclosed size in Clear Street, a New York prime broker. IMC announced in 2022 that it had joined the Pyth network, and in May 2026 it began supplying institutional crypto liquidity through the Talos provider network.

IMC's 2025 annual report, published on 25 March 2026, shows net trading revenue of 3,120 million dollars, up 40 percent, and a net profit of 968 million dollars. Total equity was 2,581 million dollars at the end of 2025, against 1,866 million a year earlier. The firm issued debt for the first time in 2025, a 500 million dollar Term Loan B that it raised to 650 million in December.
