About Hazen.ai
Hazen.ai is a Saudi Arabian company that develops AI-based traffic sensing technology. Its current product, VistaPRO, is a multifunction camera that processes video on the device and builds a live 3D model of vehicles and movement. The company says one installation can replace separate safety sensors, number-plate recognition, CCTV, counting sensors and analytics tools, which reduces roadside equipment, civil work and integration effort. Customers can control what identifiable information is visible, redacted or retained, which the company calls privacy by design.
The company site gives 2018 as its founding year and Saudi Arabia as its headquarters; other sources give 2017. The name refers to Ibn al-Haytham, known in Latin as Alhazen, who wrote on optics. Milestones on its website include an IRF Global Road Achievement Award in 2020, the launch of the VistaPRO multifunction platform in 2025 and independent testing in the UK against Home Office speed measurement requirements the same year. It reports projects, trials and partnerships in the GCC, the United Kingdom, Australia and Qatar.
Hazen.ai announced a seed round from Wa'ed Ventures, the venture arm of Saudi Aramco, in August 2019, as sole investor and with the amount undisclosed. Wa'ed made a follow-on investment in February 2021, when the company said its system was in use in the UK, the US, Oman, Egypt, Spain and Peru. Wamda reported both rounds. Sohaib Khan is chief executive and co-founder, a former computer vision professor according to Nanalyze; other named founders are Saleh Basalamah, Anas Basalamah and Muhammad Amin, the chief technology officer.
