About EDBI

EDBI is an investment firm based in Singapore. According to CB Insights, it was founded in 1991 and has its headquarters in Raffles City Tower on North Bridge Road. CB Insights describes its focus as growth capital for technology companies in information and communications technology, emerging technology and healthcare, together with selected Singapore small and medium-sized enterprises.

Paul Ng is chief executive officer. A profile on the website of Singapore's National Research Foundation says he was appointed on 1 February 2023, joined EDBI in 2010 and has overseen its investments in global information and communications technology, emerging technology and Singapore enterprises. Before EDBI he managed investments in public consumer companies in emerging markets at GIC, and he began his career in information technology at PSA Corporation.

CB Insights lists 314 investments and 97 portfolio exits for EDBI as of October 2026, and a fund called the Special Situation Fund for Startups, which it values at $205 million. It also reports that EDBI merged with SEEDS Capital in August 2024 to form SG Growth Capital. That merger could not be checked against an official page, and CB Insights deal records from August to October 2026 still use the EDBI name, so the firm's current legal and operating status should be confirmed.

In June 2026 TechScoop reported that EDBI took part in HyperLight's $80 million Series C round, led by MediaTek's innovation fund, alongside UMC Capital, Jabil, Foxconn, CDIB-TEN Capital and the Qatar Investment Authority. CB Insights also records EDBI deals in Deepgram in August 2026, and in Universal Quantum and Horizon3 in October 2026.
