About Duquesne Family Office
Duquesne Family Office is the private investment vehicle of the investor Stanley Druckenmiller. The Motley Fool describes it as based in New York and founded in 2010, the year Druckenmiller closed his hedge fund, Duquesne Capital. He had started that fund in 1981 with $800,000 and said he shut it because of the heavy personal costs of managing its $12 billion in assets.
The Motley Fool describes the office's approach as concentrated positions, macro trading and cutting losses quickly when a thesis proves wrong. Because it manages more than $100 million in US-listed equities, it files a quarterly Form 13F with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, which makes part of its portfolio public. Wealth Management reported $3.9 billion of US equity holdings in May 2021, and Institutional Investor reported about $2.82 billion of long common stock positions at the end of June 2024, adding that the total amount the office manages is not public.
The Motley Fool's analysis of the filing for the second quarter of 2025 put assets under management at about $4.07 billion and counted 87 reported holdings, with nearly a quarter of the largest positions in health care. Natera, Teva and Insmed were the biggest of those. The same article says the office bought Nvidia in the fourth quarter of 2022 and sold the position in the third quarter of 2024.
Outside listed equities, the office has appeared as an investor in a Middle East fintech. Lean Technologies, a Riyadh-based open banking company, said in a release dated 11 November 2024 that Stanley Druckenmiller's Duquesne Family Office took part in its $67.5 million Series B round, which General Catalyst led, alongside Bain Capital Ventures, Arbor Ventures and JIMCO. TechScoop covered the round in June 2026 in its report on Lean's SAR 450 million of total funding.
