About DENSO

DENSO is a Japanese automotive components maker headquartered in Kariya, Aichi Prefecture. It was established on 16 December 1949 as Nippon Denso after becoming independent from Toyota, which still holds roughly a quarter of its shares. The name combines the Japanese words for electricity and device. The company is listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange under the code 6902. For the fiscal year ended 31 March 2026, DENSO reported revenue of 7.54 trillion yen, up about 5.3 percent, and operating profit of 552.54 billion yen, up 6.5 percent, according to RTTNews. Profit attributable to owners of the parent rose 4.8 percent to 487.51 billion yen. For the following year the company guided to revenue of 7.76 trillion yen and lower operating profit of 500 billion yen. In its Japan segment, revenue grew 4.5 percent while operating profit fell 15.7 percent on higher material costs and personnel investment, and the Toyota Group is that segment's main customer. DENSO's own boilerplate cites about 158,000 employees worldwide. Leadership as of 2026 includes Koji Arima as chairman and Shinnosuke Hayashi as president and chief executive, according to a company release on executive changes effective 1 January 2026. Hayashi has publicised a research and development investment plan of 10 trillion yen over the next decade, and at the Japan Mobility Show 2025 presented a new electric-vehicle inverter that the company says cuts power loss by about 70 percent compared with conventional products. Hayashi has also said an integrated mobility computer built on an in-house system-on-chip is under development, with a launch targeted for 2029. DENSO also describes circular-economy initiatives using robotics and artificial intelligence as part of its sustainability work. In the Middle East, DENSO established DENSO Sales Middle East & North Africa FZE in Dubai in November 2010 to sell aftermarket products such as spark plugs, car air-conditioning components and bus air-conditioning systems across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Algeria and other markets. From 2015 its responsibility extended to Pan-Africa, covering 63 countries in total. A market research report says the MENA engine-management business is operated from the Jebel Ali Free Zone. In 2001 DENSO and Abdul Latif Jameel formed a 50-50 joint venture in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to manufacture car air conditioners. At DENSO's 2024 Distributor Conference in Dubai, more than 80 customers and 34 members of DENSO Middle East attended, representing 70 markets, and one session covered expanding the car air-conditioning network in Saudi Arabia.
