About Coram AI

Coram AI is a San Francisco company that applies artificial intelligence to physical security. Rather than only recording footage for people to review after an incident, its platform is built to act as an autonomous investigator. The system combines video security, access control, visitor management and emergency workflows in one product and works with existing IP cameras, so customers do not need to replace their hardware. According to the company, its models run on local NVIDIA edge hardware so that footage can remain on the customer's premises. Its main tool, Deep Investigation, is an AI agent that users question in plain language. It searches months of video, entry records and visitor data across hundreds of cameras and several sites, then returns a report with the relevant evidence attached. The company says work that once took hours now takes minutes, so one security professional can cover more ground without extra headcount. The platform also offers facial recognition, licence plate reading, tailgating detection and live gun detection, and trade coverage has noted that these features have drawn privacy scrutiny as the product is used in schools, churches and workplaces. Coram was founded by Ashesh Jain, the chief executive, and Peter Ondruska, the chief technology officer. Both previously worked on self-driving technology. Jain led autonomy work at Lyft's self-driving division and held an engineering role at Zoox, while Ondruska led AI research at Lyft and later at Toyota's Woven unit after Toyota acquired Lyft's autonomous driving assets in 2021. They set out to apply the same perception and decision-making techniques to an industry that has seen little modern AI. Published sources give the founding year as 2021 or 2022. In funding, Coram announced a USD 13.8 million Series A in early 2025. In June 2026 it announced a USD 35 million Series B, bringing total funding to USD 66 million. The Series B was co-led by Ansa Capital and Battery Ventures, with UP.Partners, 8VC and Mosaic Ventures also participating. The company says it will spend the money on AI product development, sales expansion and customer success. Coram reports that revenue has grown fourfold and its customer base has tripled since the Series A, and that more than 1,500 sites in the United States and Canada use the platform. Named customers include Hershey's Ice Cream, the eight-campus Lakepointe Church in Dallas and the junk-removal brand 1-800-GOT-JUNK?, alongside school districts, hospitals and other large organisations. The company has not published revenue figures or independent accuracy testing for its detection features.
