About Colibra

Colibra developed a travel application combining flight booking, disruption protection and journey information. Its booking model allowed eligible passengers to reserve a flight without paying the fare upfront, with payment dependent on the flight arriving within the service’s stated delay threshold. The product was designed around the financial uncertainty passengers face when flights are significantly delayed or cancelled.

The application also included flight tracking, notifications and a digital boarding-pass wallet. Its published service offered compensation-related features for disruptions and allowed users to follow gate changes, delays and cancellations in one place. The booking and protection functions were presented together as a way to reduce the administrative work of seeking refunds or managing interrupted journeys.

Kalojan Georgiev co-founded the Bulgarian business and led it as chief executive. In 2021, the company was preparing a Middle East launch and testing its service with a limited regional user group. Colibra participated in Intelak’s travel technology programme. Its historical product combined ticket purchasing with conditional payment and disruption services, applying a different commercial model to the relationship between a traveller and a completed flight.
