About Blnk

Blnk is a Cairo-based consumer finance company that provides point-of-sale instalment loans in Egypt. Shoppers apply at one of more than 3,000 partner merchant stores. Blnk says approval takes about three minutes with a national ID. Repayment runs over 6 to 36 monthly instalments. The company uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to assess risk and price each loan.

Blnk was founded in 2021 by Amr Sultan, its chief executive, and Tarek Elsheikh, and Wamda reported that it launched in October 2021. When it announced its first funding in November 2022, Techpoint listed Elsheikh as chief risk officer, Karim El Deberky as chief product officer, Karim Sobh as chief technology officer, Tamer El-Ghandour as chief commercial officer and Ahmed Ozalp as chief financial officer.

At that point Blnk said it had issued more than USD 20 million of loans to over 60,000 customers, and Wamda described it as the youngest Egyptian startup to securitise its loan book. In June 2026 Wamda reported that Blnk had onboarded more than one million customers, that about 75 per cent of its users had previously been unbanked or underserved, and that its loan portfolio exceeded EGP 1 billion. The same article said Blnk became profitable in 2025, when revenue grew 173 per cent year on year.

In November 2022 Blnk announced USD 32 million across pre-seed and seed financing. Wamda broke it down as USD 12.5 million of equity led by Emirates International Investment Company and Sawari Ventures, USD 11.2 million of bank debt and USD 8.3 million of securitised bonds underwritten by National Bank of Egypt and Banque du Caire.

On 8 June 2026 Blnk announced USD 37.1 million. Algebra Ventures led a USD 12.5 million Series A, with SANAD Fund for MSME, Endeavor Catalyst and Emirates International Investment Company taking part. The remaining USD 24.6 million came as local debt facilities from National Bank of Egypt, Suez Canal Bank, Bank Albaraka, Corplease, Globalcorp and BM Lease.

Blnk said the proceeds would fund new products, technology upgrades and a credit card programme usable outside its merchant network.
