About Bizao
Bizao is a pan-African payment services provider. According to coverage of its 2022 funding round, it processes payment flows to and from mobile money wallets, airtime and credit cards for local and international businesses. Its modular platform lets clients collect and issue payments online and at point-of-sale terminals, and it offers transaction traceability designed to meet banking and finance regulatory standards for fraud and money laundering prevention.
Bizao launched in 2019. Aurélien Delort-Duval, who also appears as Aurélien Duval-Delort, was named as its founder and chief executive in July 2022. No later dated source naming its management was found.
By July 2022 Bizao operated in 10 countries: Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Côte d'Ivoire, Guinea, Mali, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Senegal, Tunisia, Togo and Gabon. It said it processed more than 350 million payment requests a month, and its chief executive said transaction volumes had grown almost twentyfold over the previous 12 months.
On 21 July 2022 Bizao announced a Series A round of 8 million euros, reported as about $8.2 million. AfricInvest's Financial Inclusion Vehicle, known as AfricInvest FIVE, led the round with Adelie and Seedstars Africa Ventures. Bizao said it would use the money to expand across the continent, build new product lines for vertically integrated organisations, enter new markets and add staff in all of its offices.
The public insolvency notice for Bizao's French company, registered in Paris under SIREN 850 323 635, shows that the Paris commercial court opened a redressement judiciaire procedure on 4 March 2025 and ordered its liquidation on 27 May 2025. SELAFA MJA was named liquidator. The notice does not say whether Bizao's African operations continue.
