About Bites
Bites is an AI-powered study app that converts a student's own study material into interactive learning content. Users upload their files and the app produces quick, game-like review sessions, positioned as a replacement for traditional rote revision. The product is marketed in Arabic and English under the name Bites (بايتس) and is available on the Apple App Store and Google Play, with a free trial.
The company's website states that around 2 million students from more than 1,800 universities in over 150 countries study with the app, and that it holds a 4.7 rating across the two app stores. These figures are company-reported. The site also invites schools and educational institutions to get in touch, indicating a channel beyond individual student users.
The Google Play listing for the app uses the package name com.shaguf.shaguf_bites, and an App Store aggregator lists the developer as Shaguf. Shaguf is a Riyadh-based edtech company that, according to Wamda and Waya Media in November 2022, raised about 400,000 dollars in a pre-seed round from angel investors. Both outlets reported that Shaguf was founded in September 2021 by Ahmed Alrashed, who serves as founder and CEO; Shaguf's original product served instructors with recorded lectures, interactive tests and question banks. Those reports do not mention Bites, so the link between the two rests on the app's package name and store listing.
Bites is classed as a Riyadh-based education startup. No separate funding round for Bites has been published.
