About BBK
BBK, formerly the Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait, is a retail, corporate, international banking, treasury and investment bank headquartered in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Its website, read in October 2026, says the group has more than 50 years of experience and operates in Kuwait, India, the United Arab Emirates and Türkiye, with country sites for Bahrain, Kuwait and India. The Central Bank of Bahrain licenses it as a conventional retail bank, and its shares are listed on the Bahrain Bourse.
Wikipedia states that the bank was founded on 16 March 1971 and has its headquarters in Manama. It lists branches in Bahrain, Kuwait and India, and representative offices in Dubai and Türkiye. The same page names Tariq Jaleel AlSaffar as chairperson and Yaser Alsharifi as chief executive officer. A February 2026 Gulf Daily News report on the annual results shows AlSaffar, as BBK Group chairman, and Alsharifi in the results photograph, though it gives Alsharifi no title.
The bank sells personal banking products including accounts, cards, car, personal and mortgage financing, insurance and investments. Its business banking covers cash management, lending, trade finance and treasury. Customer tiers are Advance, Premier, Al Wajaha and Privé, the last for private banking and wealth management. Subsidiaries named on its website include CrediMax, which provides credit card services, and Invita, which provides customer relationship management and business outsourcing. Wikipedia also lists Capinnova Investment Bank, the Sakana joint venture with Ithmaar Bank and Global Payment Services.
Gulf Daily News reported on 25 February 2026 that BBK made a net profit attributable to owners of BD80 million for the year ended 31 December 2025, which it described as a record, with fourth-quarter profit of BD23.5 million.
