About Aseel (Aseel Capital)
Aseel (Arabic: Asil) is a Saudi financial technology company that distributes units of investment funds to retail investors through a mobile app and website. The Capital Market Authority authorised Aseel Capital Company to run a platform for the distribution of investment funds and real estate offerings under its Financial Technology Experiment Permit, and the company's site cites CMA authorisation number 2021-109-6. It describes itself as the first crowd-investment platform in investment funds in the Kingdom and says it was set up in line with the Financial Sector Development Program under Vision 2030.
How it works: an investor downloads the app, browses the funds on offer, invests from SAR 1,000 and follows fund performance through periodic reports. Expected profits are credited to the investor's portfolio after each opportunity is completed. The company states that all transactions are Shari'ah-compliant and has a Shari'ah advisory committee and board of directors listed on its site. Product categories are real estate funds, financing funds that lend to companies, private equity funds and equity funds. Developers and property owners can submit land or property for consideration through a partner form.
Figures published on the site: 31 opportunities, fund sizes of more than 11.5 billion, platform coverage of more than 3.3 billion and total distributions above 1.4 billion (currency not stated on the page). Realised returns shown for completed funds range from about 16 percent to 50 percent; examples include Tanmiyat Al-Forsa fund, Sedco Capital Inspire Boulevard, Makeen Al-Sharq, Al-Sulaiman Business Compound, Arabian Horses Residential, Namaa Al-Ahsa, Mushaaref Hills and Al-Shamal Al-Majdiyah Residence. These are the company's own figures.
Majed Abalkhail has been identified in a November 2024 Mubasher article as chief executive and co-founder. A 2024 academic paper reported that seven funds were completed in its first year. No venture funding rounds were found in the public record reviewed.
